Over the last 15 years, the population has evolved significantly to include a higher incidence of diabetes mellitus. As a result, it is imperative for pedicurists to have a solid understanding of foot and lower limb conditions. Learn why people with diabetes develop foot ulcers that can lead to amputations and how you as a Pedicurist can help prevent them. In this 60-minute zoom class Dr. Hinkes shares his wealth of knowledge regarding: diagnostic signs of diabetes in the feet and legs, how diabetes affects the lower extremities, and the practice of safe pedicure services for this specific population.
BIO: Dr. M. Hinkes, Doctor of Podiatric Medicine
Dr. Hinkes has practiced podiatric medicine since 1976 with a special consideration for preventing diabetic foot ulcers and amputations. He is board certified with the National Board of Podiatrics, American Heart Association, American Professional Wound Care Association, American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, American Hearth Association and American Academy of Podiatric Sport Medicine. Dr. Hinkes’ accreditations and awards are numerous and show his dedication to podiatric care. He has written two books on the importance of diabetic home care, and has lectured around the country on a variety of topics including foot assessments, amputation prevention, common foot problems, knowledgeable aging, and diabetic neuropathy.
